Evangeline's Odyssey

Experience first hand what life was like for Evangeline, the Heroine of Longfellow's epic poem. This expedition begins in St Martinville, LA at the Longfellow-Evangeline Historic Site with a guided tour and authentic re-enactments of Cajun Heritage. A glimpse into what her life would have looked like on authentic, historically preserved grounds. After our first tour we will enjoy a light brunch at St John's Restaurant before heading out towards the Atchafalaya basin. When we arrive at McGee's Louisiana Swamp & Airboat Tours, we embark on a 90 minute excursion exploring the Atchafalaya Swamp with some of the world's best boat captains. Here they will show you the Atchafalaya Basin exactly as she saw it. Deepen your connection with the real life places that inspired America's greatest epic poem.
